Robot conducts orchestra in performance of Beethoven's Fifth
TOKYO, Japan - QRIO, a humanoid robot developed by Sony Corp., conducts Beethoven's Fifth Symphony on at a public rehearsal by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in Tokyo's Shinjuku on March 9. Programmed with the symphony's tempo and other data, the robot waved its baton to direct the orchestra, exaggerating its gestures during the famous introduction. Sony said it believes it is the first time that a humanoid robot has conducted a live orchestra performance. (Kyodo)
