Yoshinoya cuts earnings forecast for FY 2003

TOKYO, Japan - Shuji Abe, president of Yoshinoya D&C Co., Japan's No. 1 chain serving ''gyudon'' beef-on-rice dish, briefs reporters at the Tokyo Stock Exchange on March 26 about the company's downgraded earnings forecast for the fiscal year ended Feb. 29.                 Ferrotec Holdings (HD) will start mass production of 8-inch wafers at its new plant in Hangzhou, China by January to March 2020. The company plans to produce about 100,000 wafers per month. This is the first time for the company to build a line for 12-inch wafers. The company is already mass-producing 100,000 wafers of 8-inch silicon wafers at its Shanghai Plant in Shanghai City.The opening ceremony of the new plant (photo) was held on the 22nd. The ceremony was attended by about 450 people, including local government officials. Mr. Ka Xianghan, Vice President of Ferrotec HD, who oversees the company's business in China, said, "Due in part to the impact of the trade friction between the U.S. and China, domestic production is advancing, especially in the high-tech field.                   Kashiwazaki Mayor Sakurai receives a proposal from TEPCO to decommission the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station.

                  Masahiro Sakurai, the mayor of Kashiwazaki City in Niigata Prefecture, said on April 19 that the decommissioning plan for the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station submitted by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) Holdings, Inc. In August, the company announced its intention to decide on a policy of decommissioning one or more nuclear reactors within five years if it were to resume operations of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa No. 6 and No. 7 reactors and secure a non-fossil power source ratio of more than 40%, combining renewable energy and nuclear power. Although the reactors passed the government's safety inspection in December 2017, Niigata Governor Hideyo Hanazumi has said that he will not discuss restarting the reactors until the results of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Accident Verification Commission's review are available.                     Inspection Robot for Jibiru Survey Design

                    Jibiru Survey & Design (Fukui City) has completed a dedicated base for bridge inspection support robots on land adjacent to its headquarters plant. The investment was about 40 million yen. The company expects to receive more inquiries after its robot was listed in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's new technology guidelines, and aims to receive orders for the inspection of about 400 bridges a year. In 2008, Jibiru Survey & Design entered the bridge inspection robot business, aiming to diversify its business from construction consulting. By the end of March 2007, the company had inspected 334 bridges. In February 2007, the Japanese government published a list of guidelines and new technologies that can be used as a guide for bridge inspections, and the company's robots were included in the list.                       Kotobuki Giken has launched a new company to develop and sell simulated organs for surgical training using konjac. The company raised about 90 million yen through stock investment-type crowdfunding. The company will sell the products to medical equipment manufacturers as well as universities and hospitals. The company also has its sights set on overseas markets. The new company, KOTOBUKI Medical, was established with experts in venture management and medical equipment sales, and is headed by President Takayama. The company will be based in Kotobuki Giken. The new company will handle everything from the purchase of raw materials to processing and sales. The new company aims to achieve sales of 10 million yen in the fiscal year ending September 30, 2019, and to build a plant in 2008.
