Osaka rejects special status for Chinese mother, girls

OSAKA, Japan - The Osaka Regional Immigration Bureau on April 12 rejected an application by Tang Shulan, a Chinese mother who pretended to be a Japanese descendant, for special residency status for herself and her daughters Bao Yanyan, a university student, and Bao Nannan (C), a high school student.                   Copper fiber sheet commercialized by Good Eye

                  Good Eye (Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture) will release GUD Sheet, a copper fiber sheet with antibacterial and antiviral effects, in June. The company commercialized four types of masks, including one priced at 4,980 yen (excluding consumption tax). The GUD sheet is a polymer fiber covered with copper foil and coated with a visible light responsive photocatalyst. In an experiment on bacteriophage, a virus that infects bacteria, it was confirmed that rubbing a finger covered with the virus on the sheet for 30 seconds reduced the number of the virus to less than 1/1000.Professor Hideyuki Itabashi of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Gunma University, who also serves as the company's chairman, said, "We hope to start experiments in July.                     Osaka University's compact and lightweight flexible thermoelectric conversion device

                    Associate Professor Toru Sugawara of the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, Osaka University, and Assistant Professor Kenzo Iwayano of the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, and their colleagues have succeeded in reducing the size and weight of a flexible thermoelectric conversion device in which semiconductor chips are mountedon a flexible substrate. The new device converts the temperature difference between the two ends of the semiconductor into electrical information, and is equipped with a high density of about 200 ultra-small semiconductor chips per square centimeter, achieving high heat recovery efficiency and operational reliability. The flexible device, which was developed in 2018, has been improved. The new device uses semiconductor chips that are precisely aligned in size through ultra-fine processing that exceeds conventional methods.
