Estonian wrestlers pass 1st stage for summer basho

TOKYO, Japan - Kaido Hoovelson, a 19-year-old Estonian, has his height measured during preliminary health checks by the Japan Sumo Association at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on April 27. Kaido and compatriot Ott Juurikas are among 13 wrestlers who have passed the health checks to join sumo. The names of the new wrestlers will be announced on May 9, the first day of the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament. (Kyodo)
