Falun Gong members seek refugee status amid deportation fears
TOKYO, Japan - Chinese members of Falun Gong, a sect outlawed in China, and their supporters appeal to Japanese immigration authorities not to detain them at a news conference in Tokyo on May 18. They made the appeal in the wake of moves by the Justice Ministry's Immigration Bureau starting this month to detain Falun Gong followers or instruct them to present themselves to bureau officials.
