TOKYO, Japan - (From L to R) Kintetsu Buffaloes owner Kazu Tashiro, Yomiuri Giants owner Tsuneo Watanabe and Japanese baseball commissioner Yasuchika Negoro meet reporters at a Tokyo hotel July 7 after a meeting of owners of the 12 Japanese professional baseball clubs. It was disclosed the same day that a merger between Pacific League professional baseball clubs is in the works in addition to the ongoing merger talks between the Orix BlueWave and Kintetsu Buffaloes.
