3rd troop contingent to Iraq organized

AOMORI, Japan - Ground Self-Defense Force Col. Goro Matsumura (C) reports on the formation on July 28 of a contingent of 500 troops to be sent in August to replace some 470 GSDF troops stationed in the southern Iraqi city of Samawah for assistance in reconstruction of the war-torn country. The 500 GSDF troops are from bases in northeastern Japan and include 13 women. (Kyodo)
