Kyushu Electric Power signs LNG bunkering contracts for coal with two shipping companies

The cost of the project and the share of the cost with Kyushu Electric Power Co. will not be disclosed. The two shipping companies mentioned the spread of LNG-fueled vessels. Hitoshi Nagasawa, president of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), said, "We will basically use LNG-fueled vessels for car carriers. Junichiro Ikeda, president of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), expressed his willingness to work on infrastructure development, including fuel supply. The fuel will be supplied by Kyushu Electric Company (Tobata Ward, Kitakyushu City) at its onshore shipping facilities. Kashiwazaki Mayor Sakurai receives a proposal from TEPCO to decommission the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station.

Masahiro Sakurai, the mayor of Kashiwazaki City in Niigata Prefecture, said on April 19 that the decommissioning plan for the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station submitted by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) Holdings, Inc. In August, the company announced its intention to decide on a policy of decommissioning one or more nuclear reactors within five years if it were to resume operations of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa No. 6 and No. 7 reactors and secure a non-fossil power source ratio of more than 40%, combining renewable energy and nuclear power. Although the reactors passed the government's safety inspection in December 2017, Niigata Governor Hideyo Hanazumi has said that he will not discuss restarting the reactors until the results of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Accident Verification Commission's review are available. Manufacturing process of hydraulic equipment at Konno Manufacturing

Konno Seisakusho (Adachi-ku, Tokyo) will automate the inspection of three types of hydraulic equipment using an automatic inspection machine developed by the company. The company expects to be able to automate most of the inspection work that is currently done manually by one employee at the Fukushima Plant (Shinchi-machi, Fukushima Prefecture), and improve production efficiency by 5-10% compared to the current system at the plant.
