Records of ancient 'Sakimori' soldiers found in Saga Pref.

SAGA, Japan - Photo shows a wooden writing tablet which has been recovered from an excavation site in Saga Prefecture. The Saga Prefectural Board of Education said May 30 that the tablet, presumably dating back to the late 700s, has been found to contain records of ancient ''Sakimori'' soldiers who were deployed to the northern Kyushu region to guard coastal areas from foreign invasion.
