G-4 may have to delay vote on resolution pending AU summit
NEW YORK, United States - Japanese Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura, who flew into New York on July 26 after talks between G-4 foreign ministers and African Union representatives in London, speaks with journalists following a meeting with U.N. General Assembly President Jean Ping at the U.N. Headquarters later in the day. The Group of Four countries aspiring to become permanent members of the U.N. Security Council are likely to abandon plans to take their resolution to expand the U.N. Security Council to a vote by the end of this month, diplomats and Japanese officials said. (Kyodo)
