Miyagi governor not to seek reelection or run in general electio
SENDAI, Japan - Miyagi Gov. Shiro Asano (file photo) said Aug. 21 he has decided not to seek reelection in October's gubernatorial election and will also not run in the Sept. 11 general election. Asano was first elected in 1993 and is in his third four-year term. (Kyodo)
