Japan's 79 tril. yen FY 2006 budget clears parliament
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi bows by way of expressing his appreciation as the government's 79.69 trillion yen budget for fiscal 2006 clears parliament with the backing of his ruling coalition. At left is Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki. With the approval of the budget, lawmakers will now shift their focus to crafting a blueprint to revamp the nation's revenue and expenditure structures as a way of restoring its debt-ridden finances, the worst among major industrialized nations.
