Opposition leaders take stand against end to U.S. beef import ba
TOKYO, Japan - Democratic Party of Japan leader Ichiro Ozawa (L) and Japanse Communist Party chief Kazuo Shii look at a sheet of paper during a meeting of four opposition parties held in Tokyo on June 13 oppose an imminent decision by the Japanese government to lift its ban on U.S. beef imports over mad cow disease. The opposition leaders said that such action would be totally politically-motivated and would sacrifice food safety. (Kyodo)
