New 20-pound note to be issued next spring

LONDON, Britain - The Bank of England said Oct. 30 it will issue a new 20-pound note featuring 18th-century economist Adam Smith in the spring of 2007 in commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the integration of England and Scotland next year. Smith, who hailed from Scotland, will be the first figure to be taken up for the new British bank note. (Kyodo)
