TOKYO, Japan - A rare freshwater dolphin (in photo provided by the Chinese Academy of Sciences) only found in China's Chang Jiang River has become extinct, an international research team said on Dec. 14. The team of U.S., Chinese and Japanese researchers conducted a search for members of the dolphin species, called Baiji, in November and December along the river for 3,500 kilometers but said it could not find a single specimen.
