Bombardier urges airlines to check landing gear door mechanism

TOKYO, Japan - Bombardier Inc. has asked airlines worldwide operating its DHC-8 Q400 planes to check the front landing gear door mechanism after the March 13 emergency landing case in Japan, acknowledging a possible problem with a bolt-holding pin, according to a message from the firm obtained March 15 by Kyodo News. Crack found in landing gear of another JAS MD-81

TOKUNOSHIMA, Japan - Officials check the MD-81 plane of Japan Air System (JAS) at Tokunoshima airport in Kagoshima Prefecture on Jan. 5. The left wing of the plane hit the runway when it landed at the airport on Jan. 1. JAS said Jan. 5 it has found a small crack in the landing gear of another of its MD-81 planes and that it will report the problem to manufacturer Boeing Co.
