Hayashi appointed Japanese ambassador to Chile
TOKYO, Japan - An undated file photo shows Wataru Hayashi who was appointed Japanese ambassador to Chile on April 20. A graduate of Kyoto University, Hayashi, 58, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1971. He was consul general in Ho Chi Minh City and also on the faculty of Chiba University. Before his latest appointment, he was Japanese envoy to Columbia. (Kyodo)
