Mongolian wrestler Hakuho becomes yokozuna

TOKYO, Japan - Ozeki Hakuho of Mongolia (2nd from L), flanked by his stable master Tomoatsu Miyagino (3rd from L) and Miyagino's wife, receives a message from Japan Sumo Association emissaries at his stable May 30 in Tokyo. Sumo association marks 100th anniversary

Japan Sumo Association head Hakkaku (3rd from L) and two grand champions -- Onosato (2nd from L) and Hoshoryu (3rd from R) -- open the cask during a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the association's founding at the Ryogoku Kokugikan sumo arena on Dec. 23, 2025.
