Japan to export beef to Canada for first time

MAEBASHI, Japan - Japan will begin exporting beef to Canada next week for the first time, Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare officials said Aug. 8. Photo shows a ceremony held at a meat processing center in the town of Tamamura, Gunma Prefecture, to mark the first shipment of Japanese beef to Canada.             Foxter Corporation (Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture) will release in May a hybrid image processing system that combines Preferred Networks' (PFN, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo) artificial intelligence (AI) visual inspection and conventional image processing methods.The company will market the system in Japan and China in cooperation with a subsidiary of the OPTEX Group, which is engaged in the manufacture of lighting for image processing, in terms of sales and service. The sales target is 200 units a year. Auto parts manufacturers and others have already begun to introduce the system on a trial basis.               Demonstration experiment of remote medical treatment using NTT DOCOMO's 5G-compatible mobile medical vehicles

              Based on the results of the demonstration, the team aims to put the vehicle to practical use at an early date. A 5G-compatible mobile medical vehicle (photo) was dispatched to the Hidakagawa Town Health and Welfare Center (Hidakagawa Town, Wakayama Prefecture) to temporarily establish a communication environment. Yukihiko Okumura, director of the 5G Innovation Promotion Office, expressed his expectation, saying, "We will be able to rush to the patients' side (even in depopulated areas).
