TOKYO, Japan - The price board at a brokerage houses in Tokyo's Yurakucho district indicates that Tokyo stocks rose sharply, driving the Nikkei index almost 400 points higher to 16,293.60 at the end of morning trading on Aug. 23. (Kyodo)
