Fukuda stresses people's livelihood in politics at LDP meeting

TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda addresses a meeting of senior executives of the Liberal Democratic Party in Tokyo on Oct. 25, where he stressed the importance of people's livelihood in national politics. ''If we had focused on the problem of regional gaps from the way people look at the problem, we wouldn't have taken such a drubbing,'' Fukuda said, referring to the LDP's setback at the House of Councillors elections this summer when the party and its coalition partner the New Komeito lost their majority in the upper house.
