Japan intercepts ballistic missile in space test off Hawaii
KAUAI ISLAND, United States - A U.S.-made Standard Missile 3 is fired from Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer Kongou, equipped with the Aegis advanced missile tracking system, off Hawaii on Dec. 17 to intercept a mock mid-range ballistic missile launched from a U.S. military range on Hawaii's Kauai Island in space.
