DPJ decides to reject Muto as next BOJ chief
TOKYO, Japan - An opposition Democratic Party of Japan panel on March 11 discusses the government's nomination of Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Toshiro Muto for the post of governor of the central bank. The party later formally decided to reject the nomination due to Muto's background as a bureaucrat even though he pledged in the Diet to ensure the BOJ's ''independence.'' (Kyodo)
