Extra gasoline tax in place since 1974 expires

OSAKA, Japan - Vehicles line up in front of a gas station in Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture, April 1 as gas prices fell about 25 yen per liter the same day. Prices fell after the provisional tax rates on gasoline and other road-related items expired March 31 after being introduced as a special measure in 1974. (Kyodo)
