54 sickened by suicidal man's toxic vomit
KUMAMOTO, Japan - Doctors and nurses treating patients at the Japanese Red Cross Kumamoto Hospital in Kumamoto Prefecture as they were sickened after inhaling toxic fumes that had filled the hospital's emergency care unit after a 34-year-old man who attempted to kill himself by swallowing a liquid pesticide was taken
to the room. The man later died at the hospital. Of the 54 people who had been treated, 23 were patients who were in the emergency care unit and 31 were hospital staffers, the hospital said. The photo was taken on May 22, 2008. (Kyodo)
