U.S. carrier Kitty Hawk bids farewell to Japan
YOKOSUKA, Japan - With sailors forming the word ''Sayonara'' on the fly deck, the U.S. aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk bids farewell to Japan as it heads out of the U.S. naval base in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, on May 28, ending its nearly 10-year forward-deployment mission in Japan. The 47-year-old carrier, which is expected to be decommissioned next year, will be replaced by the nuclear-powered George Washington in August. (Kyodo)
