Space Shuttle Discovery successfully launched
CAPE CANAVERAL, United States - Space Shuttle Discovery, which carries the main component of Japan's ''Kibo'' space laboratory, lifts off from the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, on May 31. Seven crew members, including Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, are participating in a two-week mission, according to the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration. (Kyodo)
