Matsushita affiliate building large-scale LCD panel factory

HIMEJI, Japan - IPS Alpha Technology Ltd., a Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. affiliate, holds a traditional Shinto ground-breaking ceremony at the site of a liquid crystal display panel plant in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, on July 14. Matsushita is investing 300 billion yen to build the factory, which will be operational in January 2010 with an annual output of 15 million 32-inch LCD panels. (Kyodo)

            On April 17, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) conducted a separation and release test of the fairing (the tip of the rocket) for the new H3 core rocket at Kawasaki Heavy Industries' Harima Works in Harima, Hyogo Prefecture (photo).               Japan Display Inc. (JDI) has finalized a new fundraising framework totaling over 100 billion yen. In addition to raising 80-90 billion yen from Ichigo Asset Group, an independent investment fund, JDI will also sell some of its facilities at its Hakusan plant (Hakusan, Ishikawa Prefecture) to Apple Inc.                 Ferrotec Holdings (HD) will start mass production of 8-inch wafers at its new plant in Hangzhou, China by January to March 2020. The company plans to produce about 100,000 wafers per month. This is the first time for the company to build a line for 12-inch wafers.
