Shionogi to buy U.S. pharmaceutical firm Sciele Pharma
TOKYO, Japan - Isao Teshirogi (R), president of Japanese drug manufacturer Shionogi & Co., poses with Patrick Fourteau, chief executive of Sciele Pharma Inc., at a news conference in Tokyo on Sept. 1, in which Shionogi announced that it will launch a $1.1 billion friendly offer for shares in the Atlanta-based U.S. pharmaceutical company in order to establish a sales base in the United States.
