33-yr-old mayor starts work in Matsusaka
TSU, Japan - Mayor Mitsushige Yamanaka of Matsusaka holds a welcome bouquet as he makes his way to city hall on his first day on the job on Feb. 6. Yamanaka, 33, is the youngest incumbent mayor in Japan following his Jan. 25 election victory in the Mie Prefecture city. Japan's youngest-ever mayor was a 27-year-old man who was elected in the city of Musashimurayama in Tokyo in 1994. (Kyodo)
