Upper house panel votes down antipiracy bill
TOKYO, Japan - Japan's House of Councillors Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee voted down an antipiracy bill on June 18. The opposition-controlled upper house is expected to vote down the bill on June 19, but the more powerful House of Representatives is expected to approve it a second time later in the day on the strength of the two-thirds majority of the ruling bloc.
