New icebreaker Shirase leaves Japan on Antarctic mission

TOKYO, Japan - The new icebreaker Shirase leaves Harumi pier at Tokyo Port on Nov. 10, 2009, on its Antarctic expedition. Japan's fourth icebreaker for Antarctic expeditions, the new, 12,500-ton Shirase has top-level icebreaking capabilities. (Kyodo)
