Coast guard receives report 'suspicious people' entered Japan

CHIBA, Japan - Japan Coast Guard officials board the North Korean freighter Sonamu at Funabashi port in Chiba Prefecture along Tokyo Bay on Jan. 7 to inspect the ship. The coast guard received information that five or six ''suspicious people'' entered Japan the previous night via Enoshima Island near Yokohama and the freighter was found off the area.

Coast guard inspects N. Korean ship

FUNABASHI, Japan - Japan Coast Guard officials inspect the North Korean freighter Sonamu docked at Funabashi port in Chiba Prefecture on Tokyo Bay on Jan. 7 after receiving a report that five or six people in wet suits came ashore at Enoshima Island southwest of Yokohama on Jan. 6. Enoshima is located off the Miura Peninsula, which is southwest of Tokyo.
