Japanese astronaut Noguchi gets ready for space travel

BIKONUR, Kazakhstan - Japanese astronauts Soichi Noguchi (R) and Satoshi Furukawa wave after a news conference at Russia's Bikonur space center in Bikonur, Kazakhstan on Dec. 19, 2009, prior to Noguchi's departure for the International Space Station slated Dec. 21. Noguchi will fly aboard Russia's Soyuz spacecraft, while Furukawa, who is scheduled to start his mission at the station in 2011, will be Noguchi's backup. (Kyodo)
