Remote-controlled robot to probe crippled Fukushima reactor vessel

Photo taken in February 2015 shows a remote-controlled robot that Tokyo Electric Power Co. announced in Tokyo on April 10 it will use to examine the inside of the highly radioactive containment vessel of the No. 1 reactor at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. The robot, developed by Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy Ltd., will be used to ascertain the situation of the vessel with an eye to investigating fuel rods that are believed to have melted. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
