No. 1 reactor at Shimane nuke power plant decommissioned

Chugoku Electric Power Co. announces the decommissioning of the aging No. 1 reactor (front R) at its Shimane nuclear power plant in the western Japan city of Matsue effective April 30, 2015, the fifth reactor to be scrapped in Japan. More than 40 years have passed since its inauguration, exceeding the stipulated period of operation. There are a total of 43 commercial reactors in Japan but all have been suspended since the 2011 nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi plant. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
