Chum salmon fries release at peak in Hokkaido river
Chum salmon fries form a school in the Nishibetsu River in the town of Shibecha, Hokkaido, on May 21, 2015, after being released. About 3.2 million chum salmon fries, which are five centimeters in length, were released in the river during the day. Only 3 to 5 percent of them are expected to come back to the river in 3 to 6 years. (Kyodo)
