Japan issues certificates to protect names of production areas

A government certificate designed to protect the names of areas producing agricultural and marine products is now available as a geographical indication (GI) mark, effective June 1, 2015. Issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the certificate is patterned after similar marks adopted in Europe and other parts of the world. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
