Statue of Dutch doctor stands at Tokyo's Ueno Park
A bronze statue of Anthonius Bauduin, a Dutch doctor who served Japan's burgeoning modern government in the late 19th century, stands at Ueno Park in downtown Tokyo on July 31, 2015. He opposed a government plan to build a medical school and a hospital in the area and instead proposed to turn it into a Western-style park. (Kyodo)
