Tokyo landscape: Statue of pioneer cartographer stands at shrine
Photo taken on July 10, 2015, shows a bronze statue of pioneer cartographer Ino Tadataka along the approach to the Tomioka Hachimangu shrine in Tokyo. He completed the first maps covering the whole of Japan based on a unified survey system in the early 19th century. (Kyodo)
