Rite to pray for rich rice crop held on southern Japanese island
Dozens of men continue rocking the straw roof of a hut built on a hill overlooking rice fields in Tatsugo on Amami-Oshima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, on Sept. 17, 2015. The event, continued until the hut collapses, is one of two traditional rites conducted to pray for a rich rice harvest. (Kyodo)
