U.S. expects no use of force abroad by Japan under new laws: expert
Sheila Smith, senior fellow for Japan studies at the Council on Foreign Relations think tank, discusses Washington's view on Japan's enactment of new security legislation in an interview in the U.S. capital on Sept. 15, 2015. Smith said the United States does not expect Japan's Self-Defense Forces to use force overseas even under the new legislation, which enables the SDF to play a greater role in activities abroad.
