Ceremony held at shrine for "hidden Christians" in southwest Japan
Catholics, Buddhists and others attend a ceremony at Karematsu Shrine in Nagasaki, southwestern Japan, on Nov. 3, 2015, to pray for Christians persecuted by the feudal government during the Edo period (1603-1867). The shrine stands on a location where "hidden Christians" were said to have secretly gathered to keep their faith. (Kyodo)
