Man in news: Founder of fund for poor kids gets prestigious U.S. medal
Yoshiomi Tamai shows in Tokyo on Oct. 28, 2015, the U.S. Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Medal awarded for his significant contribution to education. Tamai is the founder of a Japanese nonprofit organization, called "Ashinaga Ikueikai" (literally Daddy-Long-Legs Scholarship Society), providing educational funding and psychological support to impoverished children such as those without one or both parents.
