Seoul temple, police in standoff over hiding labor activist
The Jogye Temple, a head temple of South Korea's largest sect of Buddhism, is shown in Seoul on Nov. 21, 2015. Labor union leader Han Sang Gyun has been hiding in the temple since he took shelter there after organizing an "illegal" rally against the government on Nov. 14. While besieged by police, the temple, known as a "sanctuary" for social activists on the run from police, refuses to hand him over, citing its holiness. (Kyodo)
