Japanese classes attract high school students in Philippines
Filipino high school students Beatrize Chee (L) and Gio Franza talk to Kyodo News on June 1, 2017 at the Makati Science High School in the Philippine capital Manila about their interest in the Japanese language and culture. The two are among more than 3,000 high school students who enrolled in the "Nihongo" program implemented in 38 selected schools across the country since 2009 to equip young Filipinos with competence in a second foreign language in preparation for future opportunities.
