Sea Shepherd abandons Antarctic anti-whaling activity
File photo taken on Feb. 14, 2014, shows Paul Watson (2nd from R), founder of environmental activist group Sea Shepherd, staging a protest against Japan's so-called scientific whaling program in front of the Japanese Consulate General in New York. Watson said on Aug. 28, 2017, the group is abandoning its annual anti-whaling activities in Antarctic waters, citing increased use of sophisticated technology by Japanese whalers and lackluster support from the Australian government.
