French method emphasizes humane care for dementia patients
Saki Ishikawa (L), a 28-year-old nurse, teaches care staff in Tokyo on June 25, 2017, how to attend to a patient with dementia using a caregiving method developed in France. With its name deriving from "human" and "attitude," humanitude was developed more than 30 years in France. Focusing on respecting each person's dignity and independence, the method is considered effective in developing a smooth relationship between people working at welfare facilities, as well as improving patients' emotional conditions.
