Filipino, Japanese youth urged to remember infamous Death March
Photo taken on Sept. 29, 2017, shows a boxcar that was used during the infamous 1942 Bataan Death March, displayed at the Capas National Shrine in Tarlac Province, north of Manila. Some 50 to 60 Filipino and American prisoners of war who had survived the march were crammed into box cars such as this measuring about six feet long, eight feet wide, and six feet high, to be transported to prison camps in Capas during World War II. In the suffocating heat, many died en route. (Kyodo)
