JR East's trial of railway crossing control system
Photo taken in Yorii in Saitama Prefecture, eastern Japan, in the early hours of Jan. 28, 2021, shows a train car that stopped automatically in East Japan Railway Co.'s trial of a crossing control system with the use of global positioning system and mobile phone networks. JR East calls it the world's first system of its kind and aims to introduce it in the fiscal year starting in April 2024.
